My wife Melanie and I are expecting our 3rd child in June. Once again we are contemplating what to name a baby. After the usual suggestions and rejections, I began to realize that naming a child is really quite monumental. After all, he or she will be hearing this name for 75 years, give or take.
What causes names to fall out of favor? Gone are Martha and Irene, replaced by Kaitlin and Jennifer. Extinct are Harold and Norman, supplanted by Braden and Austin. My personal favorite old-timer name is Mortimer, but no sane parent would choose that 10 dollar handle today.
Where is the angel that will appear before me and say "He will be called John!" I suppose I'll keep looking through the baby name book, hoping that both Mel and I will come to an agreement.

Congrats man!
Congratulations!!
Naming your child is huge! i became a grand mother 10 months ago. it was funny because my son had a boys name and a girls name picked out since he was about 15. of course, when he had a son ... his fiance let him pick the name .... Jordan Mykal (named after Michael Jordan .. his childhood sports hero).
good luck in the search!!
So, I've heard two classic boy names recently. One was Myles Callihan. The other was Jack Henry. Unfortunately, classic is the new trendy. Whod'a thought? Just make sure you spell everything "normal"
