Back To The Struggle

Another year has begun at Cascade College, which means the struggle of finding success in small college athletics is renewed for me. The last few days have been rough for me as feelings of hopelessness crept into my mind. Of course, it is not really hopeless, as progress has been made in many ways this year.

I sometimes wonder if working for a place that I didn't care about would be better in some ways. Just punching the clock and not thinking about your job one second more than you have to often sounds appealing.

Men's soccer is 4-0, women's soccer is vastly improved, and the basketball teams are showing promise. What it comes down to however, is whether I am impacting our athlete's lives in a positive way. That really needs to be my goal. The competitor in me makes it difficult to see the way Christ can change lives, regardless of whether we win or lose.

Hey, it is tough trying to build a program and reach people with limited resources. But--God wants you to impact lives and it seems that is what's happening.

Hang in there.
